The Current Way to Generate Calls From Search Ads
Understand the role this focused capability plays and what it is designed to support.
Google Call Ads have changed.
New standalone call-only ads can no longer be created. Call-focused campaigns now use responsive search ads with call assets. Existing call-only ads should be migrated before they stop receiving impressions in February 2027.
Google is replacing standalone call-only ads with responsive search ads that use call assets. A suitable ad may give an eligible searcher a way to call the business or visit its website, depending on the device, format, auction and campaign setup. Peregrine Ads now builds new call-focused activity using that current structure.
Displaying a telephone number is only one part of the system. The search must be relevant, the advertised location must be serviceable, someone must be available to answer, the number must meet Google requirements and the resulting calls need a useful measurement definition.
We connect campaign data with operational feedback. Missed calls, wrong-service queries, recruitment calls, out-of-area enquiries and genuine prospects should not all be treated as the same result.
Relevant Search Intent
Build keyword themes, ads and negatives around searches where a phone conversation is a sensible next step.
Available Phone Support
Schedule call assets around staffed hours and the business's realistic ability to answer and qualify enquiries.
Measurable Call Outcomes
Use eligible call reporting and client outcome feedback to distinguish a call interaction from a useful lead.
